LOS ANGELES, CA (March 18, 2015) – Revolution Studios today announced its purchase of a 50% ownership stake in 2010 Best Picture Oscar®-nominee Black Swan from Cross Creek Pictures.

The psychological thriller starring Oscar-winner Natalie Portman and Mila Kunis grossed over $329 million at the worldwide box office. Worldwide distribution rights continue to be controlled by Fox Searchlight, which co-financed the film and owns the remaining 50% share.

Portman’s performance as a troubled young ballet star earned her the Oscar for Actress in a Leading Role as well as the Golden Globe for Actress in a Motion Picture – Drama. Black Swan was nominated for a total of five Oscars, including Best Director for Darren Aronofsky.

“The opportunity to acquire a stake in a major film of this caliber doesn’t come along every day,” said Chief Operating Officer Scott Hemming. “Revolution is actively pursuing high-quality single films and libraries, so we were thrilled when Black Swan became available and we were able to hammer out a deal with Cross Creek that worked for all concerned.”

“Black Swan is a tremendous artistic achievement with long legs and continues to be a huge success financially around the globe,” added Revolution Chief Executive Officer Vince Totino. “This deal fits perfectly with Revolution’s strategy of expanding its world-class library of commercial and prestige titles through both acquisition and production.”

The acquisition follows Revolution’s purchase of the 64-title Morgan Creek International library in October.
